You know the "craft" doll market is in love with tea or coffee dying/staining. But Tea and Coffee can be bad for the fabric. They smell, can attack bugs and will continue to darken with age. So I have tried various methods of dying and such and I found the best results came from painting with very diluted amounts of Lisa's Tuscany dye set color #6 all over the doll. I got the doll good and wet, then by dipping the brush right into the undiluted dye I picked a few spots to scrub a touch of color into/onto the doll. The results were fabulous!

Imagine is a brand new pattern available soon!
She was created to show how you can use my Tuscany dye set color #6 to antique fabric. Imagine has a crazy quilted body with a simple armature, quilted wings, sterling silver wire was used for the hair with assorted glass beads added for interest. Her face (by Acey Deucy©) was stamped onto 67 lb. card stock, it was then colored with chalk pastels & pencils, and glued to a glass pebble. Seed beading is used to highlight her face & body. I printed words onto fabric to create her sash. The base is made out of wood, and the name plate is hand-stamped sterling silver. Hammered sterling silver wire charms were also used.

Here is a silk scarf I created using some of the colors from my dye kits. I dipped the entire scarf into a light blue color (I diluted the blue dye with a great deal of water first), then painted on the lavender & Purple dyes and then I applied the salt to the wet scarf. Altered Fabric Art Doll Pin ©
I created this doll pin out of the fabric scraps left over from my new Imagine doll©. I added some decorative stitching using my sewing machine along with hand-dyed silk ribbon to embellish the body. I used colors from my Tuscany dye set to dye the ribbon, I also used a glass bead for the head & assorted fibers/threads for the hair. To add more visual interest the body I added Seed beading, a sterling silver wire charm, and fun fibers along with small glass beads. Small glass beads were also used for the legs. The arms are hammered sterling silver wire. After the doll pin was complete I added the antiquing using my Tuscany dye set color #6. I sprayed the doll pin with water, and applied the diluted color using a paint brush. It's that easy! Click here view my other Altered Fabric Art Doll Pins©
Peyote stitch covered fishing lures ©
These fishing lures are covered with size 11º - size 13º seed beads, and were created using tubular peyote & stitched fringe. I used antique Czech glass beads and silver & gold plated hand charms. I colored the head of the fish (above) using gold foil, pigment powders, acrylic paint, and extra thick embossing powder.

The Chant Whisperer ©
Here is a back view image of the Chant Whisperer. The face & heart have been rubber stamped, colored with my dyes, and acrylic paints. Seed beading, and fiber accents have also been added to enhance the overall design.

The Secret Keeper ©
Here is an example of the Secret Keeper doll simplified. I left out the wire armature, I gave her pancake hands, and drew on the facial features with permanent ink pens. This is my version of a traditional southwestern Indian doll.
Simply Slippers ©
This is another example of how you can use my Dye Sets. This slipper features a spider ribbon rose created with hand dyed/painted silk ribbon, and ribbon & floss embroidery work. The lining of the slipper is a silk blend, and the top was made out of velvet.
