Recently there was a tremendous jump in the cost of the raw Tibetan hair on the pelt (over 40%), so I was forced to take a close look at what my options were if I wanted to continue selling the hair as part of my business. I decided to shift my focus to an eco-friendly and naturally sustainable source for the hair. After a lot of research we decided to add angora goats to our small farm here in AZ. They will be ready for sheering in early spring and I will be selling the loose kid mohair by the ounce or variations there of. The new hair will be available for shipment in July 2011! The Angora goat hair is sold by the half oz for $15.00 and one ounce package for $30.00. The mohair/angora goat fiber has been washed, rinsed several times, conditioned and combed to remove tangles. The color is either left un-dyed in it's natural state or dyed to natural looking shades just like real human hair, with highlights, variations and tones. It is very soft with a slight wave/curl and amazing shine and bounce. The locks are roughly from 4 to 7 inches in length and are perfect for rooting, styling, cutting, and wig-making. It is perfect for all your doll and craft hair needs. It is especially good for wigging Berenguer, re-born doll and all rooting applications. It is perfect for Blythe dolls, trolls, bears, stuffed animals, needle felting, and basically any craft that requires a soft shiny touch of real mohair that comes from an angora goat. The loose mohair comes from my own small heard of angora goats. My fiber animals are never harmed by having their hair cut. I do the shearing myself to make sure that they are treated with the utmost care and respect. In fact, it is vital to a fiber animal's health to have their hair trimmed or cut twice a year.
If you would like to place an order please contact me at Lisa@ryndaoriginals so I can send you an invoice for payment until I am able to create the individual payment links for the hair.
This kid mohair hair is not only suitable for wigging dolls but also for spinning and weaving, so in addition to the doll hair I will also be adding beautiful hand spun yarns for sale in the future.
We already had boer goats as pets and also a pigmy buck as part of our animal family. Now we have added two angora does and two angora bucks to our heard. I would also love to find a lama that needs a loving home, so if you know of any in need please let me know!
I will be adding pictures of the herd soon so you will able know the animals your hair comes from by name. I am very excited to take Rynda Original Designs in yet another direction and isn't it funny how when a door closes a window always opens up!
Many blessing, Lisa
