Workshops and Classes Dear Workshop Coordinators, Store Owners, and Anyone interested in taking a class:
Rynda Original Designs ~ Lisa Rynda ~ P. O. Box 767 ~ Cortaro, AZ 85652 (831)776-2898 Here is a little background information/My Bio... I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I now reside in Arizona with my dogs, cats, 14+ goldfish, and a macaw. My earliest memories as a child involve a suitcase full of bit’s of fabric, beads, scraps of this-and-that and many, many hours of fun creating. I guess that’s how this all began? I have been involved in, and teaching art in one aspect or another for approximately 18 years. It was my love of teaching, and design that prompted me to start my own business RYNDA ORIGINAL DESIGNS six years ago. I work at my business full time, and I also do my own photography, writing, editing of my patterns & workbooks, printing, and binding. Whew.... What a joy it has been for me to devote myself full time to my business, and I count myself very lucky to do so! It is hard to describe my love of what I do in only a few words but if had to... art is as essential to myself as breathing (I actually get grumpy and restless if I can't work on something creative/art oriented). Not a day goes by without my working to learn a new craft, technique, or to refine the ones I already know. I try to push myself at all times to stretch the boundaries of my work. I try to look at what I do not only through my eyes, but through the eyes of others. "I am trying to create pieces that will evoke conversation, to get people to see things in a different way if possible." Basic workshop/class information... I offer many different classes & patterns from beginning to advanced. Advanced classes & patterns usually involve applying cloth over sculpted paperclay. A pattern or workbook is always included in the class. Nearly all of my patterns & workbooks include instructions for making a wire armature, articulated wire & soft sculpted hands. Included in each workbook are detailed instructions for every step of the dolls construction, as well as diagrams, and or photos for each step. I produce almost all of my patterns in a spiral bound workbook form. I also provide complete directions for the construction of the dolls costume, and the display base. My goal is to provide enough information, so that even if a person has never made a cloth doll before they will be able to complete one with ease. I also travel to teach, and my rates for teaching vary per class. The general rates are between $150.00, and $200.00 for full day (9 hours) of instruction, plus traveling expenses. $100.00 per half day (5 hours) of instruction. I also offer two day and three classes/workshops for the more advanced patterns. I do not have a minimum, or maximum student number per class. I only require only that there is sufficient room for each student to work comfortably.
