  MY BACKGROUND INFORMATION

I (Lisa Rynda) have been involved in the arts for approximately 20 plus years. I have been teaching art in one aspect or another for that entire time. It was my love for teaching, and design that prompted me to start my own business RYNDA ORIGINAL DESIGNS many years ago. I work at my business full time, and I also do all of my own photography, writing, editing of my workbooks, printing, and binding. (Whew...) What a joy it has been for me to be able to devote myself full time to my business. I am very fortunate!

I offer many different classes & patterns from beginning to advanced. Advanced classes & patterns usually involve applying cloth over sculpted paperclay. Nearly all of my patterns include instructions for making a wire armature, articulated wire & soft sculpted hands. Included in each workbook are detailed instructions for every step of the dolls construction, as well as diagrams, and or photos for each step. I produce most of my patterns in a spiral bound workbook form. I also provide complete directions for the construction of the dolls costume, and the display base when applicable. My goal is to provide enough information, so that even if a person has never made a cloth doll before they will be able to complete one with ease.

I also travel to teach, and my rates for teaching vary per class. The general rates are between $150.00 and $200.00 per day plus traveling expenses. I do not have a minimum, or maximum student number per class. I only require there is sufficient room for each student to work comfortably. I offer both half day classes (four hours), and full day (eight hours). I also offer two day classes for the more advanced patterns. The more advanced patterns, and classes include the cloth over paperclay dolls with complex armatures.

It is hard to describe my love of what I do in only a few words, but if I had to I would have to say "Art is as essential to myself as breathing". Not a day goes by without my working to learn a new technique, or to refine the ones I already know. I try to push myself at all times to stretch the boundaries of my work. To look at what I do not only through my eyes, but through the eyes of others. I attempt to create pieces that will evoke conversation, to get people to see things in a different way if possible.

I have worked very hard to introduce as many new people to the wonderful world of cloth dolls, as well as encourage the individuals that have taken my classes before to realize there maximum potential. It is such a thrill for me to be able to teach someone the joys of creating something wonderful from raw materials, and to experience their excitement grow with the project. I feel I have been given a great gift, and count myself very lucky to be able to share it with others.

I currently reside on a small farm in rural AZ. I help care for my 89 year old father and run an out of pocket barnyard animal sanctuary for neglected and abused animals in addition to running my business. I hold a council seat at my church Lord of Grace and I am also the youth leader. Not bad for a lady with an almost 50% disability rating.  I try to give back and volunteer in my community as much as possible because I fell we can all make a difference in the world we live with love.
